Our Story
Artistic Landscapes is owned by Mark Keightley. Mark graduated from the University of Illinois. After working in the corporate world for 10 years, Mark moved to Atlanta in 1989. He founded Stanford Development and built 150 houses in the Atlanta area from 1989 to 1994.
This construction background provided excellent experience in constructing hardscapes and understanding local building codes.
Mark started Artistic Landscapes in 1994 where we have been successfully landscaping for 20 years. Because Mark is a big believer in continuing education and actively participating in landscape-related professional organizations, we are a member of the Georgia Urban Ag Council and Planet.
We travel the country and scour the internet looking for ways to improve our company. We travel to the West Coast to see the latest in new plants and trees. We visit well known gardens, such as the Portland Japanese Garden and The international Rose Test Garden in Portland, Oregon, Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, and many more. We attend landscape expositions, such as the Green Industry Exposition and Hardscape Expo in Louisville, Kentucky. We take classes from industry educators such as Tony Bass, Jeffery Scott, Ken Thomas, Charles Vander Koi, John Deere Landscapes University and more. We read books by Michael Dirr, JD Virtrees, Chet Holmes, Michael E. Gerber, Brian Tracey, Mike Michalowicz, Tony Robbins and more.
We love and study Japanese Maples, Japanese Gardens, Koi ponds and water gardens. We hope our vast array of landscape projects completed and pictured on this site demonstrate our vision and abilities. Each year we have new exciting projects to add. Some projects take a few years to mature to show their true beauty. Our Featured Projects Section reflects amazing before and after transformations.
