Artistic Landscapes was honored to recently be featured on the prestigious website LandscapingNetwork.com. The post highlighted the work done by our team in designing and installing a complete outdoor living area that included a pool, spa, pavilion with a kitchen, bathroom with storage, fire pit along with landscaping in an Atlanta home.
The uniqueness of this project that attracted the attention worthy of a post in addition to the high quality of the overall planning and execution was the fact that this project was on an extremely hilly site with more than 20 feet of elevation changes.
Multi-terraced poolscapes have become popular in the Atlanta area and we consider ourselves specialists in this type of landscape design. We see opportunity in hillside properties to turn them in to a series of spaces that while they sit at different levels, still feel like one cohesive outdoor living area.
In the particular project that was highlighted a series of four retaining walls were built to help raise the grade and create useable space. The highest wall is four feet tall and built of modular block, while the lower walls are half as tall and made of stacked stone. The pool sits in between the walls, with some space above and some space below. On the upper side of the pool, a raised bond beam supports a sun-bathing ledge as well as a naturalistic waterfall. On the lower side, a reverse bond beam wall features a unique stone design depicting the sun setting between mountain peaks.
